Basil is the culinary herb derived from the dried leaves of Ocimum basilicum. It is a tender plant, and the leaves may taste somewhat like anise, with a strong, pungent, often sweet smell. Basil is prominently featured in Italian cuisine. Yellowish, green-brown leaves; minty with a sweet pleasantly spicy flavor; warm, slightly pungent; anise-like back note and a slightly bitter after taste.

To preserve natural flavor, store in a cool, dry area in sealed containers for shelf life of up to 18 months from date of manufucture without loss of flavor and/or functionality.
