Whole black pepper is the cultivated and dried fruit (peppercorns) from the flowering vine Piper nigrum. Once ground, the pepper can lose its aromatics quickly which is why most culinary sources recommend grinding whole peppercorns immediately before use.

To preserve natural flavor, store in a cool, dry area in sealed containers for shelf life of up to 18 months from date of manufucture without loss of flavor and/or functionality.
